How Radiesse® Works

As your skin ages, the tissue gradually loses volume. Vital components such as collagen, hyaluronic acid, and fat as lipoatrophy occurs. With a dermal filler like Radiesse®, the doctor can restore that tissue volume to improve your appearance. Radiesse®, with its unique composition, has a way of stimulating collagen. Composed of tiny calcium microspheres in a water-based gel, Radiesse® supports the skin structure and stimulates collagen production for a long-term wrinkle correction.*

Your Radiesse® Treatment

Before Radiesse® injection, your skin is cleansed, and the doctor determines the proper injection sites. To make the injection comfortable, a topical anesthetic can be applied. Once the anesthetic has numbed the area, Radiesse® is injected with a fine 27 gauge needle. Penetrating to the sub-dermal plane, a special injection technique ensures perfect placement of the product. After injection, the site is massaged briefly. You should see an immediate wrinkle correction of the treated area.

After Your Radiesse® Treatment

One year is the average duration of results with Radiesse®, but results may last 10 to 14 months. Patients often choose to return for another Radiesse® treatment in 12-18 months.

Side effects with Radiesse® are uncommon and typically resolve within a few days. If you experience any swelling, you may be advised to elevate your head and use ice to keep it under control. Possible side effects include irritation, edema, itching, discoloration, and tenderness.
