Dr. Aboolian may recommend a light chemical peel for you if you exhibit one or more of the following conditions:
- Rough skin texture
- Dry Skin
- Skin Blemishes
- Pigment problems
A light peel can also be used as a pre-treatment for a deeper chemical peel or skin resurfacing procedure. The procedure may be completed in less than 20 minutes. Your skin is cleansed before the solution is applied evenly across your face, neck or chest.
After the peel, you may experience some light and temporary skin flaking as new skin emerges. Usually, no ointment is required with a light peel, but it will be necessary to use sun protection after the procedure. Possible side effects include skin flaking, redness, or dryness.
Deep Chemical Peel
A deep chemical peel penetrates deeper into the skin, to get rid of the outermost layers and treat more severe skin damage. Solutions such as TCA (trichloroacetic acid) and Phenol are commonly used to perform a deep chemical peel.
Dr. Aboolian may recommend a deep chemical peel for you if you exhibit one or more of the following conditions:
- Coarse facial wrinkles
- Skin blotches or freckles
- Sun damage
- Wrinkles
- Some pre-cancerous growths
A deep peel may not be recommended for persons with darker skin. If you are interested in a chemical peel but have a darker pigmentation, ask Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Aboolian about chemical peels.
The procedure may take 20 to 60 minutes. Deep peels are typically applied to the face only. Your facial skin is thoroughly cleansed before the solution is applied evenly across the targeted areas. An initial stinging sensation is common during this process.
After the deep peel, a crust will form over the facial skin, and you may experience some swelling. This may limit your activities somewhat, so be sure to plan accordingly for the post-treatment period. New skin will begin to emerge after about one week. A dramatic improvement will be seen in the skin texture and color after healing from the procedure.*
Dermaplaning / Skin Resurfacing Treatment
This resurfacing treatment covers a wide range of skin conditions. Dermaplaning is a deep physical exfoliation to free the skin of all dead cellular debris. This method has been used by plastic surgeons and dermatologists for years. Lactic/Glycolic or Beta peels can be applied to enhance this treatment.
Oxygen Echo 2 Treatments
Echo 2 Oxygen treatment is a unique sub-micro delivery system; oxygen is transported to the skin via larger molecule within the nebulized solution. These sub-micronic particles saturate the skin at a rate of 18,000,000 molecules per minute. Once these molecules contract the skins keratinized layer, a multipausic “enhancement” of the stratum corneum occurs.
The “enhancement” not only improves the skin’s permeation characteristics but also allows the particulates do dissipate and adhere to the collagen and elastin fibers, thereby increasing the suppleness and elasticity of the skin.* The benefits to preoperative cosmetic surgery and postoperative laser surgery, oxygen is introduced to the skin at the cellular level, it assists in increasing epitheliazation, (cell regeneration), thereby aiding in the reduction of the skin’s ability to form a keloid (scar).
