Breast Revision
Breast Implant Removal
Due to personal or medical reasons, some patients choose to have their breast implants removed. This procedure is relatively simple and brief. However, there is potential for a poor aesthetic outcome. Skin wrinkling and scarring can occur, especially if your breast augmentation was performed many years ago. A subsequent cosmetic procedure such as mastopexy (breast lift) can often help to minimize the appearance of these undesirable effects.
Nipple or Areola Surgery
Nipple surgery can be performed on patients whose actual nipple projection or nipple depth is considered enlarged, or for individuals whose nipples are inverted. The areola is the circular area, which surrounds the actual nipple. Procedures can be performed to enlarge or decrease this area. These are usually minor procedures and require minimal recovery time.
Here are some reasons someone may seek a revision procedure:
- Desire to change implant size
- Switch from saline to silicone implants
- Volume adjustment in saline implants
- Displacement of the implant
- Visible implant rippling
- Capsular contracture
