Breast Reduction

What to Expect After Your Breast Reduction

After your breast reduction, the incisions and sutures will be covered in gauze and tape. A special recovery bra will be provided, which will need to be worn for a few weeks. In some cases, surgical drains will be placed to remove any fluid that accumulates after surgery. Some discomfort, swelling, and bruising is normal after breast reduction. Dr. Aboolian will prescribe medications to help manage discomfort during your recovery.

Possible Side Effects or Complications of Breast Reduction

Like all procedures in cosmetic surgery, there are risks and complications that can occur. Changes in nipple/breast sensation can happen after surgery, which can be temporary or long lasting. Infection, bleeding, reaction to anesthesia, breast asymmetry, and reaction to anesthesia are other possible complications. Ask Dr. Aboolian for more information if you are concerned about these possibilities.
